
Imaan Mazari
The annual Ludovic-Trarieux International Human Rights Prize was established in 1984 to honour lawyers who courageously defend human rights and the rule of law, often at great personal risk to themselves. First awarded to Nelson Mandela in 1985 while he was imprisoned, the 2026 prize has been jointly awarded to Pakistani human rights lawyers Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha.
Imaan Mazari is a human rights lawyer and woman human rights defender who has been active in supporting victims of violence and persecution to seek legal redress. She is a vocal advocate for the rights of persecuted religious and ethnic communities and against human rights violations and abuse especially by the Pakistan military and security forces.
